KAKAU is an acronym for "KANISA KATOLIKI DHIDI YA UKIMWI". It is an Aids Control Programme which was initiated by Fr. David Kamugisha, the Director of Lay Apostolate with the permission of his Lordship Bishop Nestory Timanywa of Bukoba Catholic Diocese. KAKAU aims at coordinating internal and external resources to prevent the spreads of AIDS and its effects in the society.
1.)Create an awareness for action on the AIDS epidemic
2.)Coordinate efforts within and outside the diocese
3.)To establish pastoral programmes for AIDS victims
4.)To mobilize community and public towards taking positive action on meeting the challenge of AIDS
5.)Seek and offer assistance(Material and Financial)to AIDS victims in order to help them to meet their basic needs
